May is National Preservation Month

Since the National Trust for Historic Preservation created Preservation Week in 1971 – to spotlight grassroots preservation efforts in America, it has grown into an annual celebration observed by small towns and big cities with events ranging from architectural and historic tours and award ceremonies to educational programs.

Everyone has places that are important to them. Places that they care about. Places that matter. I challenge you to visit a historic place this month & share your story and picture on our page. Lets celebrate the places that are meaningful to us and our communities!

And for those of you looking for Smith County activities the City of Tyler, Preservation Department, will host their annual East Texas Preservation Weekend beginning, Friday at 5:30. For more information visit their website:www.tylerhistoricpreservation.com
